Jim Boeheim speaks on the Knicks championship odds
Post Knicks elimination by the Pacers in the NBA Playoffs Hall of Fame Coach Jim Boeheim ripped in to the New York Knicks only sparing Carmelo. ‘Melo had led Boeheim’s Syracuse Orange to a national title in 2003. Boehiem had this to say about to the Syracuse Post-Standard about ‘Melo.
“He did what he can do. He played very well the final game. Everybody’s killing him, but Tyson Chandler just didn’t try to catch the ball,” said Boeheim. After imitating what Tyson Chandler and Kenyon Martin both did when they didn’t catch the ball Boeheim went on to say “Carmelo gets turnovers and the announcers aren’t smart enough to even think, ‘Well, the guy should try to catch the ball.’”
Boeheim didn’t focus on Chandler and Martin the whole time he also went on to say that if the Knicks had any hope of winning this season Raymond Felton and J.R. Smith would have to play at the top of their games every game in order to win.
Boeheim overall thinks that ‘Melo is good enough to win and NBA Championship, but in order to do so he will need one more person alongside him.
Do you think Boeheim’s statements are correct or is he just defending his guy too much?
