The shackles have been removed!
It’s been 11 years since 23-year-old Joanna Levesque, better known to the music industry as JoJo, signed a seven year contract with Blackground Records. For those of you that are not aware, JoJo had up until now been fighting a grueling battle with her former label. In July of 2013 she filed a lawsuit requesting to be released from her contract. In the suit she noted that both Blackground Records and its imprint Da Family Records was unsuccessful in releasing her third album and refused to compensate producers she had worked with on the album.
Today it was announced that after winning the lawsuit that removed the shackles from her contract with Blackground Records, JoJo has officially made Atlantic Records her home and has begun working on her long-awaited third album. According to a representative, the deal was signed this past December.
Aside from music, she will be making her return to the big screen in G.B.F., which hits theatres worldwide this Friday.
