Recently at Milk Gallery in NY, Johnathan Mannion presented his photography collection of today’s hip-hop moguls in a show titled “ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES: THE 665 POLAROID WORK OF JONATHAN MANNION.” The show features the now extinct 665 Polaroid film with photos of various artist that he shot over his career. He has worked with a wide range of music artist such as Jay-Z, Big Pun, DMX, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Nas, Kanye West and Aaliyah. Throughout the exhibit Mannion’s lets you explore his timeless and most prized iconic pieces from over a 18 year work period.
The American born photographer, Johnathan Mannion is known for his outstanding black and white images by using a lot of 665 Polaroid Film. He was first recognized by the 1996 cover of Jay-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt” album. Ever since then he has tried to keep his medium with working with commercial and personal work. We feel that the show is just a experience, if you remember buying that first DMX album and wondering to yourself who had the balls to take a photo of him. Make sure you check out the show!
