When in doubt, just quote Kanye.
In Part 2 of the Kanye West and Zane Lowe interview, Mr. West discusses his career aspirations and the roadblocks he’s also come across.
Conducted in London’s famed Abbey Road Studios, Kanye-filled with fire and passion-tells Lowe even in his tenured and successful career, he combats companies who solely want to box him in and limit his creativity. Kanye points out the farthest companies have allowed entertainers to aspire to is fashion, which is small potatoes for “Yeezus” who makes mention of wanting to delve into architecture, open up hotels and reach past the normal circumference for a rapper.
As he boastfully, and with no apologies, professes he is a God, Kanye explains the reason people take issue with the provocative statement is because society is comfortable with people of color-or namely-rappers calling themselves anything other than pimps, niggers and gangsters.
Kanye also informs Lowe while the naysayers believe his motives are purely selfish, on the contrary, all he wants to do is help. Watch the 13-minute clip where Kanye talks about everything from his parents and the strides they’ve made, to his belief in himself, not really liking his hit “Golddigger” and racisim’s cousin, classism.
Kanye maybe a mad genius, but he’s still a genius none the less.
