On 66 buildings around the world, the enigmatic rap star is holding court for his new single.
Here’s an analogy. Everything Kanye-related up till now has been like the pre-season in baseball. Random tweets, album previews by everybody except Kanye himself, overseas trips, the press, blogosphere and print journalists having a field day turning a lot of nothing into something in an effort to report something accurate about the upcoming album from Mr. West. Well, the wait is over, and tonight, Kanye has thrown the first pitch, with this tweet. Its opening night in Yeezy season on over 60 buildings around the world, where the rap star has taken his projected talents to debut his brand new single, “New Slaves”. If the title isn’t provocative enough, watch the rather high quality preview filmed by a fan below, and watch the inevitable mash-up of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Late Registration take place. To say the method to this madness is rather brilliant is an understatement, but for once we have music to talk about. Not to mention, in just over 24 hours, Kanye will take the stage on Saturday Night Live to reportedly debut two new songs from the LP, which has been confirmed to be releasing on June 18th. You think Justin Timberlake got ratings? Things are about to get very interesting.
