Everyone was tuned in to watch the 2013 VMAs live from Brooklyn, New York. People were hyped up to see Kanye West perform ‘Blood On The Leaves’ single from his already gold album ‘Yeezus.‘ Kanye performed with his silhouette on top of what Donda calls the “Lynching Tree.” It was a photographic still made by British artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen. Steve said, “The tree — located somewhere near New Orleans — once served as a gallows for slaves, and buried near underneath it are lynched victims, according to the Schaulager museum in Basel, Switzerland, where the piece hangs.” If you missed the performance here is the live video below.
