Foodie Kelis has few words for her ex-lover.
It’s been almost two years since Queensbridge rapper Nas dropped his 11th studio album Life Is Good. The cover is one of the more memorable ones in hip-hop history, as the emcee held onto the infamous green wedding gown of his now ex-wife, singer Kelis– or at least, that’s we thought it was this entire time.
The Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School graduate took the time to let us know what we were really looking at in her recent interview with NY Times. “It’s not even the dress. The joke behind that is that it’s the slip to the petticoat to my dress. I think when I moved out I just left it. That’s all he had, poor thing.” As she continued to talk to the newspaper about her new show on the Cooking Chanel entitled “Saucy & Sweet”, her new album FOOD, and a variety of things food & music-related, she touched on the fact that she didn’t know that Nas would even have her undergarments on his cover art until right before the album’s release. “He gave me a heads-up like two days before it was released.”
Well, at least Kelis didn’t have to walk into Best Buy to a surprise. Though after reading the interview, it seems to be one of the last things on her mind- “I don’t really care,” she stated. When asked if it brought back any old feelings, she ended the interview saying, “Maybe for others, but not for me. I don’t really listen to his music anyway.”
