“This is really all about showing my fans that having one really good idea is enough…and if you have discipline, these ideas can take us to the moon,” said Lady Gaga at her album release party on Sunday night. This party, which Gaga titled ‘artRave’, packed the house in Brooklyn Navy Yard with some of the biggest and best in both music and fashion from Twista to Terry Richardson. “And are you going to space?” the reporters asked. “Yes, I’m going to space,” Gaga replied.
In addition to performances by Mother Monster herself, the event showcased other artists as well. A series of brand new Jeff Koons sculptures were on display, including one that is the giant image on the ARTPOP album cover.
The highlight of the evening was, of course, when Gaga revealed Volantis technology’s “flying dress.” Gaga says the idea was conceived in a pub and then developed to its furthest. The flying dress, custom fitted for Gaga’s petite frame, uses six propellers to lift its wearer about 2.5 feet off the ground.
