Your favorite sports stars descended upon Los Angeles for the ESPY Awards
Just like when our favorite television shows, movies, and musical artists get awards, the athletes we love need some award shine too. Out in Los Angeles last night was the 20th running of the ESPN ESPY Awards. The host was none other than AMC’s Mad Men star Jon Hamm.
Hamm opened up very strongly with jokes about Dwight Howard helping LA win now that he has left and Manti Te’o getting catfished. With the highlights of a host come the failures, where the ESPYs stumbled was a Roc Nation Sports spoof with Jay Pharoah and an even more awkward Vladimir Putin impersonation by Bill Hader.
The best moments of the night came from the two tribute pieces for the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage and the Jimmy V Perseverance Award. Both tear jerking moments as Robin Roberts accepted the Arthur Ashe Award For Courage while the Jimmy V Perseverance Award went to Team Hoyt.
Amongst all that the athletes did get their shine as well with Adrian Peterson winning Best NFL Player and Best Comeback Athlete and LeBron James winning Best Athlete plus more.
