Last week, Lil Wayne issued an apology to the Emmett Till family during his performance of the song “Karate Chop” in Nashville, Tennessee.
The YMCMB rapper replaced the controversial line “Beat the p—y up like Emmett Till” with “I apologize to the family of Emmett Till,” fans were definitely taken by surprise.
This is not the first attempt at an apology that Lil Wayne has made. On May 1st, Lil Wayne and his team issued a written apology to the Emmett Till family, but the family chose to not fully be satisfied with Wayne’s written apology as Airickca Gordon-Taylor, a spokesperson for the family, stated it was “inadequate.”
Currently there is no response from Emmett Till’s family on whether or not they accept Weezy’s verbal apology.
