Bruno’s single gets an R&B update.
After performing “Gorilla” live for the first time at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Bruno Mars watched the popularity and success of one of his many Unorthodox Jukebox–his platinum-selling sophomore album–singles skyrocket. Despite the album being released months before said performance, “Gorilla” continued to climb the charts in September, making it one of the more popular pop songs of the latter half of the year. To pump even more energy into the soulful cut, Pharrell and R. Kelly are brought on board to help Bruno with the “G-Mix”. Losing the falsetto persona for this adventure, Pharrell opens up the new song rapping, eventually giving way to Bruno Mars and R. Kelly’s heartfelt vocals. Listen to the track below, and cross your fingers in hopes that Atlantic Records deems this collaboration worthy of a music video.
