Future’s crackling bullfrog croon has always balanced sweet and sour, but there’s not a shred of that sensitivity left on his juggernaut new track, “Covered N Money.” The pseudo-sensitive type we heard on “Neva End,” Rihanna’s “Loveeee,” and the weird-as-hell “Real and True” with Miley has been eaten alive by this new Future, a guy we’ll probably see a lot more of on Honest. This is Future in Beast Mode.

He takes down his industry, his peers, and even his women on this track, shunning anything that could threaten his money. The beat gallops across a nasty southern trap tune that sounds like the darkest tracks on Kevin Gates’ The Luca Brasi Story, as he dishes out flow at breakneck speed- something we didn’t know Future could do. If this is any indication of the direction he’s taking on Honest, we’re excited for the dark Future ahead.
