There are some really interesting things happening at the John F. Kennedy Center down in Washington D.C. this year, in celebration of this genre that we all know, love, and in some cases, make a living from. I’ll leave it to the good folks at Nomadic Wax to give you the official details.
One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide is a 17 day festival presented by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Hi-Arts in conjunction with Nomadic Wax. The incomparable DJ Boo will be performing at the festival along side many of the other artists. Here, Boo has compiled and mixed tracks from most of the artists who will be performing.
For those of you that need a little more convincing, at this time tomorrow, Nasir Jones will be taking the stage to perform his generation-defining, classic Illmatic album, backed by a live orchestra. Yeah, you can watch those March Madness games another day.
Definitely download/stream the mixtape by clicking here, and let us know your thoughts. Again, a big shout out to Nomadic Wax and World Hip-Hop Market for helping to keep this culture thriving.
