Here’s something you broke college students can relate to
If ever there were a song that fellow starving college students could relate to, rest assured it would be “Sallie Mae Blues” by Sol Collective hip-hop recording artist, Luke Tailor. “Sallie Mae Blues” is the first leak off of Tailor’s upcoming debut mixtape, TextBook Money. Offering his thoughts on what it’s like to be a broke college student today in America, his heart-stirring bars are sure to hit home, especially for those who have experienced the exact struggle of which Tailor touches on.
“It’s hard to study when ya stomach rumbles, it’s even harder when ya baby brother has a daughter. You watch him try to find a balance between being a father and all you do is watch in sympathy because ya pockets empty,” he raps in a tone full of despondency.
This is for the college grads with skyrocketing student loan debts. This is for the current students who are just barely getting by with their minimum wage paychecks from their part-time jobs. This is for you.
Tailor’s mixtape, TextBook Money, is due out very soon. Until then, join him as he basks in his “Sallie Mae Blues.”
