Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson announces his retirement
A year full of speculation and questions has finally come to an end, Sir Alex Ferguson has announced his retirement. The now 71-year old manager first arrived at the Manchester United’s Old Trafford in 1986 and hasn’t looked back since. His achievements at the club include two Champions League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups, and 13 League Titles. It was under Ferguson in 2011 that Manchester United passed Liverpool’s record of 18 league titles when Manchester United won their 19th.
Winning the club’s 20th league title this season was the perfect time for Ferguson to retire as he explains to BBC Sport,
It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so.The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.
The question now is who will replace the legendary manager?
