There are plenty Marvel characters more deserving of a stand-alone film than the Black Widow but none are attached to actress Scarlett Johansson. In addition to being arguably the most attractive actress in Hollywood, especially when the likes of Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry are getting up there in age, Johansson is quite bankable, which is likely the cause that Marvel Studios decided to develop a film for her and the Black Widow after being featured in The Avengers, Iron Man franchises as well as Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Little by little Marvel built this mysteriousness around the Black Widow character, expanding on the character film after film. According to Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, Black Widow’s storyline in The Winter Soldier revolves around “her coming to terms with her history, that she’s been a spy, and spies aren’t necessarily trustworthy.” he states. That storyline will be further explored in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is set to be released in 2015.
Is Scarlett Johansson and the Black Widow really deserving of a stand-alone film?
