Film/TV streaming service Netflix hopped onto the Marvel Studios bandwagon yesterday afternoon with their announcement of five new Marvel-related series premiering in 2015.
Marvel Studios and Netflix have reached an agreement that will give “ground-level” comic characters Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones their own respective series, before bringing all four heroes together for a miniseries dedicated to their super team The Defenders.
Marvel Entertainment President Alan Fine lauded Netflix as a service that “offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty,” saying the deal they agreed upon is “unparalleled on scope and size.”
Expect the first series, one focusing on Daredevil, to premiere in 2015, and for the rest to be staggered out over “multiple years of programming.”
