The Dallas Mavericks came into Game 2 determined to win a game on the road. After losing Game 1 in San Antonio, Shawn Marion and the Mavericks made the proper adjustments to cruise pass the Spurs and even out the series. Marion dropped 20 points and recorded 5 rebounds after only scoring 8 points in Game 1. Dallas OG, Dirk Nowitzki contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds to the road victory. The Mavericks dominated the majority of the game, they never loss the lead after the start of the second quarter. The Spurs struggled with keeping a hold of the ball. The Spurs had 15 turnovers in the first half alone.
Manu Ginobili had 27 points in the loss, but he faced a very physical Dallas team. Ginobili and Tony Parker were banged around constantly when they would drive the lane. Tonight may have turned out differently if the Spurs could have kept the ball in their possession. Dallas scored 33 points off of the Spurs 22 total turnovers. Parker and Ginobili combined for 9 turnovers. The Spurs face a challenge going into Dallas for Games 3 and 4 when the Mavericks gained so much momentum in Game 2 with a 21 point victory.
