Chip Kelly FINALLY names Eagles starter
Surprise, surprise Michael Vick has been named the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles. As sarcastic as that was the actual surprise of this announcement is how long it took for that announcement to happen. Today head coach Chip Kelly informed the media that Vick did in fact beat out Nick Foles and Matt Barkley for the starting job.
With Vick getting the majority of snaps going forward it will definitely be interesting to see how he fits in Kelly’s offense. While at Oregon, Kelly dismantled the opposing teams with the option running game. Whether it was the combination of Darren Thomas and LaMichael James or Marcus Mariota and Kenjon Barner/De’Anthony Thomas the Ducks were lighting up the scoreboard. Hopefully for Eagles fans Vick and McCoy will recreate that magic in the pros.
To believe the hype, or not to believe the hype is the question surrounding this Eagles offense. Will Kelly’s uptempo offense take the league by storm, or will the speed and physicality of the NFL send that notion back in to the college ranks?
Whatever the answers may be we will find out Week 1 when the Eagles take on the Redskins.
