Miley Cyrus finally comments on her much talked about VMA performance
In a fuzzy swimsuit and bears surrounding her, Miley Cryus stepped on to the VMA Stage at Brooklyn’s Barclays center last sunday. Her set opened with her Mike WiLL Made It-produced single, “We can’t Stop,” which segued into Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” While together on stage, Miley twerked for Robin Thicke.
“Me and Robin [Thicke,] the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,’” she says in an exclusive clip provided to MTV News. She later continues saying, “Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history.”
The performance sparked major conversation surrounding twerking and her hyper-sexualized performance. From this came memes and an interesting article by the NYTimes on Twerking.
“’I don’t pay attention to the negative,” Cyrus says in her first comments since Sunday’s much-discussed awards show.
