Missin’ Missy.
The last time we heard Grammy Award-winning rapper Missy Elliott on wax, it was 2005, and her commercially successful album, The Cookbook, was on the shelves. “Lose Control”, the Grammy-nominated lead single from that album was in rotation, and Missy Elliott was riding high when most thought her career would be on the decline. Unfortunately, that decline did come, and despite several false-alarm comebacks (“Ching-A-Ling”, “9th Inning”), Missy hasn’t fully made her comeback, but she does indeed have plans to.
According to her, the time she’s taking is necessary to craft the type of hit-records her fans have grown accustomed to (over a span of 7 full-length albums, Elliott produced 7 top 20 singles), rather than release “microwave records”.
Thankfully, despite her hiatus, the “Lose Control” singer has confirmed that she will be back, hopefully soon rather than later. “It’s coming. I just ain’t telling nobody when.”
Watch her Yahoo! segment above, and get ready for what’s to come. In my personal opinion, we could absolutely use more Missy on our airwaves.
