From the group that propelled gangsta rap to the top of the charts, N.W.A‘s very own DJ Yella, sat down with Montreality for an interview in which he covers topics from the group’s breakup to his current relationship with each of the former members.

DJ Yella was able to, finally, discuss his thoughts on the final year(s) of N.W.A. He stated [that]:

The funny thing is when the group broke up we was #1 on the charts. I’ve never heard to this day, I don’t know personally of a group that broke up at #1. They break up when they last or not selling, but we broke up at #1. And I don’t think—It might have been just too big to keep that group together. It was too perfect. So, it was just meant to be… Once we finished mixing Niggaz4Life album, the group was over. People didn’t know that, but the group was over.

He also revealed that there is one Eazy-E track that is unreleased, but it will stay that way because it is a diss record.
