Hip-Hop and education continue to collaborate. Recently, Queens rapper Nas was named as the face of Harvard University’s Fellowship program. The Nasir Jones Hip-Hop Fellowship is the product of an anonymous donation made to make the Queens rapper the head of the program.

Nas was informed of the program via email to seek his approval to use his name for the program that helps fund hip-hop related program at the ivy league institution. Even though Nas dropped out of high school and didn’t pursue college, the veteran MC has always considered hip hop as a form of education.

Last Thursday, The MC made an appearance on campus at Harvard to give his blessing on the program.

“Hip-Hop is important like computer science,” said Nas. “The world is changing. If you want to understand the youth, listen to the music. This is what’s happening right underneath your nose.”
