NBC pulled the plug on its hit series, Heroes back in May 2010 but after a highly sought out return and even a petition, the show will make its return as a 13-episode miniseries called Heroes Reborn.
It has been reported that the series will air in 2015.
“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment.
Although Heroes Reborn will feature a new cast of characters, there is a possibility some of the old cast will return. The original cast of Heroes included Milo Ventimiglia, Greg Grunberg, Hayden Penettiere, Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto, Masi Oka, Ali Larter and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
Heroes has broken down quite a few barriers, being one of the most profitable titles for NBC’s sister studio, Universal TV. The series has become its biggest international and DVD seller.
NBC made the announcement of Heroes Reborn during its Olympics coverage.
