gty_muhammad_ali_1962_sswm_jt_130203_mnI’m Cassius Clay before he became Muhammad Ali…

If your girlfriend hasn’t told you in tears yet, Big Sean and Naya Rivera are no longer tying the knot or jumping the broom or what have you. They’re not getting married. Some (mis)information floating around include a borrowed/stolen Rolex, cheating, acting too controlling, and jealousy. But we all know that the best way to find out the truth is through their music (fingers crossed for freestyles over this but of course, with the name, “My Ex-Bae”). I can’t be mad and try to make points on how no one should care because there are a lot of people who do care, genuinely. They’re not wrong for that. What I will say is that this should not be the best/worst part of your day. Instead, focus on what’s at hand below: the next batch of artists who could be the next Big Sean or Naya Rivera, minus all the drama hopefully.

You know the drill: Sound off on our Twitter (@TheSource). If you can do better yourself, submit a track or video to SYLR@thesource.com.

ELMNT – “Night’s Over Egypt” (Prod. Tut Piece)

Handling some Nate Dogg samples himself, ELMNT gives us a G-Funk track to rock to this weekend. Be sure to listen until the end as the verses get better as they progress.

*Kataztrofee (feat. French Montana, Game, Young Dro) – “Polo Polo Polo”

Opening act for 2 Chainz, Pusha, and August Alsina give us a star studded lineup on their remix to what could have been a younger Kanye’s favorite jam.

*Toki Wright x Big Cats – “Echinacea”

Producer Big Cats is working with Rhymesayers emcee Toki Wright on Pangea and here is the first taste. It’s informative on the controversial herb Echinacea but also on how a lot of things can be twisted by other people’s perception. Judge things for yourself.

Fre$h (feat. Troy Ave, Kiyanne) – “Bout That”

I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for big horns on a beat and matching big don dada talk like on this single. Off of Fre$h’s upcoming The Preacher’s Kid project (Spring).

Jon Waltz – “Wildflower” (Prod. Nova)

I’m surprised at how not mad I am when I see emojis in music videos and artwork. Anyway, Jon gives us a story about some girl problems that he handles with finesse.

*Bridget Perez – “Be The One (Interlude)”

Singers, this is how you create a layered yet simple interlude for a project. And with that, we jump into our videos for the week…
