Nick Cannon may have let his sense of humor go too far on this one. In anticipation of his upcoming album, White People Party Music (set to release 4/1), the America’s Got Talent host gave himself a “white” makeover. Complete with white face paint, flannel shirt and blond hair, Nick took to Instagram to continue the escapade, immediately sparking an international debate of racism accusations.

On Instagram, he captioned the photo to the right with “It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft “Bro I got drafted!!”

After getting a lot of flack from those offended, he took to Twitter to make a statement in defense: “It’s funny how people take themselves so seriously. People love drama! We feed off of it. Just relax and have fun!!” Soon after, a white fan responded “let me relax, have fun, & wear black face. Lets see how everyone reacts”, to which Nick replied “Do it! I dare you.” Cannon followed up the photo with a video introducing his Caucasian persona, Connor Smallnut, and played out the alter ego for hours on Twitter.

Maybe a debate is what he wanted, I mean, all promo is good promo, right? To me, Nick should be a role model for things like this, his audience and fan base ranges across all ages and I don’t see how this could show him in a good light. What are your thoughts/feelings on this? Is it ok? Is it hypocritical? Let us know what you think.
