Nick at Night..
Taking a play out of the Drake, random song release at 4 in the morning playbook, Nicki Minaj has just released a new scorcher featuring up an coming Chicago rapper Lil Herb (or G Herbo, depending on who you ask) aptly titled “Chi-Raq”. The haunting, erratic beat sets the format for both spitters; Nicki comes out the gate in an almost taunting, you know you can’t F with me type of attitude that delivery wise is a bit different than her approach on other tracks.
She proceed’s to drop a few controversial bars that seems to address the controversy that surrounded the initial cover art for her single “Lookin Ass Nigga”
“Malcom X daughter came at me
Lookin ass niggas aint happy”
Not exactly an assessment of the overall situation, but her dropping the direct mention has to be seen as a bit of a defiant move. Herb gives us a very solid verse that should do a good job of showcasing himself to what will now be easily his biggest look yet.
At the end of the track Nicki mentions how ” I always got a trick up my sleeve, might give you a new trick every week till this album drop” implying. Also interesting to note considering the cover art is quite reminiscent of Kanye’s Good Friday, both things leading us to believe a new Nicki song may be coming each week for the foreseeable future, let’s cross our fingers she follows through.
