img_9507Tomorrow, Saturday October 5th, marks the date of the 22nd Nigeria Independence Day Parade held in New York City.

The parade, which will stretch down 2nd Ave from 44th Street to 56th Street, celebrates the 53rd anniversary of the African country’s independence.

Things to look out for include dancing, floats, vendors, a “Ms. Nigerian Independence” pageant, and a special appearance from Nigerian artist Wande Coal.

The celebration was founded in 1991 by the Organization for the Advancement of Nigerians (O.A.N. Inc.) and has been succeful since.

The committee who plans the parade asks that everyone from all walks of life to come and join the thousands of others who want celebrate such an important day in Nigerian culture.
