West Coast rap is seeing a new era of prominence and relevance due to the efforts of it’s latest generation of hip-hop acts. Two of the leaders of the new school, Nipsey Hussle and Dom Kennedy stopped by DJ Skee’s SkeeLive talk show on AXS TV Tuesday night to perform their latest collaboration “Checc Me Out” as well as speak on the place that the New West holds in today’s musical landscape. Both artists are dropping anticipated projects this month. On October 8th, Nipsey will be delivering his DJ Drama-hosted Crenshaw mixtape and on October 15th, Dom will be dropping Get Home Safely. Speaking of Crenshaw, Nipsey has delivered the mixtapes trailer, which gives an in-depth look at the trials and tribulations he has endured throughout his young career.
