Spade-O, a member of the former North Philly-based rap crew Major Figgas (whose names included Ab-Liva, Gillie Da Kid, Dutch, Bump J, Bianca, and Reese Rolex) was released from prison last year after spending close to 12 years behind bars. Initially discovered in the late 90′s via DJ Cosmic Kev’s Power 99 radio spot ‘The Come Up Show’ for his serious lyrical abilities, Spade is now home to again prove that those skills are still in tact.
Now for those who don’t remember, Spade-O was among the names of those that opened new doors for the city of Philadelphia’s hip hop community. Major Figgas, in conjunction with Philly’s Most Wanted and Beanie Sigel, eventually become the Roc-A-Fella Records supergroup State Property – again spotlighting PA as previously mentioned. Unfortunately over time the overall relationship between these parties disintegrated, in part leading to the disbandment and incarceration of Spade himself.
A completely revitalized and matured version of the man now leads to the current moment, where Spade-O has joined forces with Cosmic Kev once again as well as ATL’s DJ Drama for his new mixtape entitled Unchained. The tape is a strong one, although the amount of drops could’ve been lessened, but features the likes of fellow hometown homie Meek Mill and Chiraq’s Chief Keef. Peep it above on be make sure to cop it on DatPiff.
