New York woman claims she was attacked by cab driver
A New York woman is suffering from injuries after allegedly being attacked by a cab driver this past weekend after opting to pay for her ride with a credit card instead of cash, according to CBS New York.
“He just went ballistic. He just lost it,” the woman told reporters.
The woman claims she was attacked and knocked unconscious after telling the cab driver that she was going to pay for her ride with a credit card and not cash.
“My jaw is swollen. I can’t open it. There’s a ringing in my ear. My eye muscles are swollen and throbbing,” she revealed.
According to the woman, the attack began at the corner of Broome and Mulberry streets a little after midnight on Saturday when she and her fiancé flagged down a cab to get home. After having driven for two or three blocks, the cabbie pulled over. The woman told CBS 2′s Scott Rapoport she was told by the driver that his credit card machine was malfunctioning and that he wanted the pair to pay in cash. Offering to go to an ATM because she didn’t have any cash on her, the cabbie stopped the car at Prince and Elizabeth Street and ‘lost it.’
“He’s screaming he doesn’t trust anyone, he doesn’t trust anyone,” the woman stated.
In addition to the woman being knocked unconscious, her fiancé was also struck by the cabbie.
As reported by Rapoport, the woman refused to show her face and reveal her name following the alleged vicious attack. Due to the bruises she was left with, the woman is afraid that her attacker is still out there.
With a clear memory of what the man looks like, the woman told CBS 2 that she will be contacting the police to try to identify him.
