Last night Drake and The Weeknd showed love to their hometown at MUZIK as they wrapped up their WYLAT European tour by shutting down Toronto at the OVOXO Homecoming event. The city came out in droves to support the two hometown stars.
Artists, Tastemakers and Toronto’s hip-hop elite were in attendance as the DJs warmed up the crowd. The mood switched as soon as it was announced OVO and XO were in the building as girls and fans clustered around the VIP booth waiting to get a glimpse of the stars.
Out of the blue the welcome home party turned into a mini-concert when Drizzy and Abel jumped on-stage and started performing some of their greatest hits. The crowd sang along to the lyrics of “Crew Love”, “The Language”, ” Worst Behavior”, “Or Nah Remix”, “We Made It Remix” and many more.
As the duo worked the crowd of pretty ladies surrounding the stage, all of whom tried to physically grab on to Drake and The Weeknd, they had to repeatedly stop their performance to calm the star-struck crowd down. The sold out event was significant in that both OVO and XO camps showed mutual strength by co-hosting the event and in effect, combining their fanbases and building on Drake and The Weeknd’s existing momentum to solidify their status as the biggest stars in Toronto.
