120513_desean-jackson_600In an NFL offseason filled with offseason moves, it appears that the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to shake things up with a change in their high-octane offense. There have been reports that the Philadelphia Eagles have been in talks with a few teams around the league involving a trade with wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Jackson who is expected to earn up to $10.5 million this upcoming season is coming off a big year, setting career highs in receptions (82), receiving yards (1,332) and touchdowns (9).  The breakout season of Riley Cooper and return of Jeremy Maclin may be one of the few reasons the Eagles are looking to trade Jackson.  It has been reported that the Eagles are asking for a third round draft pick and possibly more in exchange for Jackson.  The New England Patriots have expressed a great amount of interest and appears to be the leading candidate in landing Jackson. An acquisition of Jackson would be a great addition to the lackluster receiving corps in New England.

The Patriots are competing in what appears to be an arms race with the Denver Broncos. So far, the Patriots have made improvements to their defense by adding Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner to their secondary.  An addition of DeSean Jackson would be a great present for future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.  Stay tuned for updates pertaining to the potential trade.
