Somehow, Pharrell’s great 2013 seems to be spilling over into the new year, which is amazing and well deserved. After picking up seven Grammy nominations for his multiple Summer smash hits—”Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines”—and his production credits on standout albums, the Academy of Motion Pictures also recognized his contribution to pop culture this year. His infectious “Happy” track, that was originally overlooked, until he dropped one of the most optimistic and impressive artistic feats of the past year, the twenty four hour video, has been nominated for “Best Music (Original Song)”. Found on the “Despicable Me 2″ soundtrack, a win would make Skateboard P just the third hip hop artist to win an Oscar; behind Eminem and Three Six Mafia. He faces some stiff competition, but we are definitely pulling for him to win. You can catch the award ceremony when it airs on March 2nd.
