Today marked the opening of the Jordan brand’s Flight 23 store in NYC. Footaction and the Air Jordan Brand teamed up to bring the first ever Jordan-only store in North America. The grand opening of the store drew in people from all over NYC and even Jordan loyal customers from other states. Many stood in line for days with the anticipation that they would be one of the lucky ones to get the first whiff of the fresh kicks hanging on the walls.
Though many were standing in the cold, the high energy was there and Power 105′s DJ Envy played some tracks that kept everyone distracted while they awaited the opening of the doors. Spike Lee joined Jake Jacobs, the President and CEO of Footaction and Larry Miller, the President of the Jordan Brand worldwide, with the pulling of the grey and black, elephant printed ribbon tied like a school lace. And then all the real fun started!
The first customer, Jean Anacreon, that had been standing in line for three days, was allowed into the store to make the first purchase ever at the Flight 23 store. After that, security began to whisk in small groups of customers, media and celebrities, 50 Cent and Kevin Liles, in to take tours of the store and make purchases of their favorite sneakers. And of course we celebrated the opening of the store by copping a few pairs!
The store is located on 225 West 34th street and is now available for everyone to go in and make purchases. Though it may be a few days before the crowd dies down, it is an experience to just go into the store; no matter when you go!
For all you sneaker enthusiasts, check out some photos of the grand opening after the jump.
