A group of University of Rochester freshman got both the funniest and depressing introduction by a professor ever during their first day of Chemistry yesterday. Dr. Benjamin Hafensteiner began the class by telling his students — mostly pre-med majors — that the majority of them would fail miserably in his class. How’s that for encouragement?

The only problem was, Dr. Hafensteiner wasn’t really Dr. Hafensteiner, he was Patrick, a member of UR’s prankster troupe The Chamber Boys, playing a hilarious joke on the unsuspecting new students. The highlight of the whole ordeal was when the real Dr. Benjamin Hafensteiner walked in and demanding to know who Patrick was. That’s when Patrick proceeded to make a b-line for the exit. By the looks of it, the real Dr. Hafensteiner was in on the whole thing.
