When you’re about to break bread over pizza with your posse, who do you pray to? Tijon from the Eastside of Jersey rightfully prays to Christopher Wallace. In the same vein as Biggie, Tijon rocks a steady flow with humor and threats for the competition.

Off of DJ Juanyto’s Young New York, Tijon’s latest video shows him fending off an eviction notice and kicking it with his friends (ice cream sandwich sculptures and tutting included) in what is no longer his house. It starts and ends with a few words of respect towards East Coast rappers that have come before Tijon. They should teach this along with the Pledge of Allegiance to elementary school kids.

Here are Tijon’s thoughts on the record:

“DJ Juanyto just hit me up and said he wanted something on this Young New York tape. He sent me over Biggie’s “The What.” I had to add to the beat to make it my own but I started the song with a little prayer to big for touching such a classic. There’s been so much half a$$ sampling of BIG’s stuff recently too and that was frustrating me around the same time so it was cool to just go off on this.”

Off of Tijon’s upcoming Rats EP.
