**NOTE ROOM CHANGE**
PRESS ADVISORY: COUNCIL MEMBER WILLIAMS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, VICTIMS’ FAMILIES, ADVOCATES TO ADDRESS THE NYPD DISPARITY IN RESOLVING OUTER-BOROUGH HOMICIDE CASES
 Thursday, January 9, 2014

11:00 AM, RED ROOM, CITY HALL, MANHATTAN

BROOKLYN, NY, January 8, 2014: Tomorrow, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams (D-Brooklyn) will be joined by elected officials, including Public Advocate Letitia “Tish” James, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Council Members Cornegy, Barron, Miller (partial), advocates and the families of homicide victims from across New York City to call on NYPD to eliminate the disparity in investigating and closing homicide cases throughout the outer-boroughs.

The press conference is being held in response to recent reports that outer-borough homicide cases have received less staffing and resources than those cases in precincts throughout Manhattan. As a result of this disparity, precincts throughout the outer-boroughs have a significantly higher number of open, unresolved cases than do precincts throughout Manhattan.

Council Member Williams, elected officials, advocates and families will also call on the NYPD to assign more detectives to help solve cases in the outer-boroughs.

WHEN: Thursday, January 9, 2014, 11:00 AM.

WHO: Council Member Jumaane D. Williams (D-Brooklyn); fellow elected officials, including Public Advocate Letitia “Tish” James, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Council Members Cornegy, Barron, Miller (partial); victims’ family members, including Maria Woodley and Dolene John, advocate groups, including LIFE Camp & I Love My Life; East Flatbush Village, Inc.; G.M.A.C.C.; Man Up! Inc.; and The Fortune Society (partial).

WHAT: Press Conference to Address the NYPD Disparity in Resolving Outer-Borough Homicide Cases.
