pusha2Pusha T has long been championed as one of the few emcees with true insight into the workings of the narcotics underworld, due to his vivid, firsthand accounts of the summits and pitfalls of the dope game .

His album title My Name Is My Name is at once both a nod to The Wire’s infamous drug baron Marlo Stanfield and a proclamation that Pusha’s name sums up everything you need to know about him. In his latest visual, the Virginia-based lyricist stands alone, unencumbered by the cliche trappings of hip-hop music videos, as he proclaims himself king. “I rap, n***a, ’bout trap n****s; I don’t sing hooks,” he snarls in a convincing baritone as he stands before black and white backdrops, a nod to the minimalist approach he has made the template for his solo album campaign.

Pusha T’s My Name Is My Name is available for purchase on October 8th.
