April Showers bring May flowers, right? chelsea

Let’s not let a little rain ruin a perfectly great spring. Grab you some rain boots and an umbrella and call it a day! You can’t ignore the fact that spring time is the perfect weather to do almost everything. It’s not too hot not too cold and you can get away with a light spring jacket or sometimes no jacket at all. Everyone loves the spring, it’s one of those things that really makes people happy for some reason. Maybe it’s the blossoming of flowers, the leaves slowly changing back to green or the abundance of Mr. Softee trucks all around the city. While people enjoy the spring, the weather isn’t always put to good use. Some advice: get out the house more and stay out. There are a million things to do during the spring that doesn’t necessarily require having a lot of money. Take a look at this list of random things you should be doing during the spring.

1. Visit some state parks – A lot of state parks offer free activities during the day. And even if you just want to go to the park to take a walk and get some fresh air, just make it to the park.

2. Work out outdoors- What’s better motivation to get in shape for the summer than fresh spring weather. Run at your local track, ride your bike or skate.

3. Eat frozen yogurt – With the abundance of frozen yogurt places all around the city, it may be kind of hard to stay away from this tasty treat if you’re a frozen yogurt lover. Pinkberry anyone?

4. Go bike riding – Because I’m sure you prefer to bike ride when the weather is in the 70’s versus mid July when it’s a stifling 97 degrees out long after the sun has gone down.

5. Attend carnivals and street fairs – How can you not have fun at a place that has cotton candy, fried Oreos, funnel cake, a bouncy house or all four?!

6. Visit the farmers market – There’s nothing like some fresh fruit. And it’s good to begin taking advantage of the tropical fruit that is now in season.

7. Go to the circus – The circus is only in town for a few weeks so catch them if you can.

8. Visit museums – The Hall of Science is a great one to visit during the spring. The playground really brings out your inner child.

9. Go to Chelsea Piers – Bowling, bike riding, food, water sports; Chelsea piers has a little bit of everything for everyone.

10. Picnics – Central Park is a great place for picnics. Whether with your significant other or a bunch of good friends, it can be a fun afternoon adventure.

11. Sight see – Grab some really comfortable shoes, a friend and a camera. New York has so much to offer and there’s always something new to experience.

12. Helicopter rides – If you aren’t afraid of heights, I can’t think of a better way to see your city from a different view.

13. Attend a random art exhibit – If you’re not really into art this is definitely something you should try at least once. You may actually enjoy yourself.
