If there is anything you should know about a Gary Clark Jr. performance, it is that he will blow you away when he makes his guitar sing. The other thing you should know is that his fans are die hard and will have you so involved in the show that you can’t help but keep wanting more from this modern day king of the blues. Gary Clark took the stage at Terminal 5 in New York last night and set the tone with the mood lighting and riffs from his guitar.

The crowd was swooning over the intake of his raw talent and there is no surprise off of the superstardom he has had after releasing his album, “Blak and Blu” album last year. He jammed out to such hits as “When My Train Pulls In”, “Blak and Blue”, “Things Are Changin’” and hit single, “Bright Lights”. Before playing his last song, he gave a shout out to his mother standing in the crowd. He played his last song and stepped off stage as the crowd chanted, “We Want Gary!!” in a sports-like way. Which seemed to have worked because Gary came back out for an encore of three more songs.

After such a great week, there is no surprise that Gary is carrying his name higher up the charts of the blues. He also played the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem on November 14 and was honored with an after party at the Red Rooster. The party was hosted by Legendary Damon and there were plenty of notable faces in the crowd to celebrate with the Texan singer.

Gary Clark Jr. takes a stage not necessarily by storm, but with a free spirit and a raw talent that will take you by storm. His natural sense of the rhythm he provokes from the blues sounds of his guitar are bound to change your mood and have you not even realizing you’ve been standing for two hours.
