As if New Yorkers needed any more reason to hate the Boston Red Sox, pitcher Ryan Dempster gives them yet another one.
During the Yankees vs. Red Sox game last night in Boston, the pitcher blatantly tried to hit Yankees star Alex Rodriguez with the ball as he was up to bat. After four tries, Dempster finally hit his mark, plunking A-Rod in the back. Boston fans soon erupted in cheers and the entire Red-Sox team rushed onto the field towards A-Rod for no apparent reason, while the Yankee team stayed put (ouch).
The incident did however, infuriate Yankees manager Joe Girardi, who responded in outrage and thus was ejected from the game. Dempster received no repercussions for his bitchassness behavior, which clearly stemmed from A-Rod’s recent steroid scandal. Despite the foul tactic, the Yankees still managed to whoop Boston’s behind.
Sure, you don’t have to like the A-Rod, nor respect him — his teammates clearly don’t — but you have to admit Dempster was completely out of line. Throwing 90 mph balls at a guy doesn’t make you look like a hero, it makes you look like a f***ing twat and a bully. Or as Billy Madison would say, “That’s assault, brotha!” A-Rod deserves to be punished for his poor decisions, but that punishment shouldn’t include bodily harm.
