NFL: NFC Championship-San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

This past week, the sports world has been fixated on it’s newest bad boy or maybe good guy, Richard Sherman. After an extremely loud and brash adrenaline filled post-game interview, where he called out his competitor, Michael Crabtree, describing him as weak and mediocre, there was an immediate backlash against him. People took to twitter to call him a thug, or express their disappointment in him, even going so far as to call him “classless”. Sherman promptly responded, penning an open letter to anyone willing to listen, to dismiss the notion of his thuggish ways. He expressed his displeasure and disappointment in the fact that people were still prescribing to racially coded language to explain a person’s behavior that they couldn’t understand.

All along, he has professed his innocence, trying to maintain a good public image; however, some didn’t want to believe it, pointing to his antics towards the end of Sundays game, as proof of his taunting, misbehaving ways. However, NFL Films mic’d Sherman last game and caught the entire incident on tape. The results blow their argument to smithereens. Yes, he chased Crabtree, but to congratulate him for a good game played, it was the Wide Receiver who was upset and lashed out.  So, the entire time, Sherman was on the right side of the argument, and hopefully this will forever end this debate. Although, in sports, you can rarely predict careers accurately.
