The Brooklyn MC steps in the booth with the mindset of a conflicted ruler.

artworks-000050905818-zn4kzg-t500x500Rilgood has been developing a thorough rep among NYC’s rising class of rhymers, but for his latest trick the Brooklyn MC raps with a bigger picture in mind than just slick wordplay.

The second release off of his upcoming Kingdom project is titled “Corrupter” and it sees Rilgood take on the persona of a dictator — a concept inspired by controversial African political figures of the last few decades. On the new track, the rapper explores both the extravagant and violent sides to ruling with an iron fist in a corrupt political climate.

While Rilgood’s take on the controversial form of governing isn’t as comedic as Sacha Baron Cohen’s, the Nigerian-American rhymesmith manages to keep the concept rather light by injecting his Brooklyn aura into a serious topic.

Listen to the track below and lookout for Rilgood’s Kingdom mixtape dropping later this summer.
