Robinson Cano looking for historic deal
For the second time in 19 years the New York Yankees will not be in the post season.
The season may not be over but the Yankees are already dealing with offseason rumors. When the focus should be around Mariano Rivera’s last few games (the focus will get back to that) it seems that Robinson Cano’s desired has entered the limelight.
Rumors circled around a few months ago that Cano is looking for a 10-year $300 million deal and those same rumors are now back. Cano was basically the only consistent offensive player for the Yankees this season up until the arrival of Alfonso Soriano.
Now at 30-years old a long term deal is ideal for Cano but not ideal for the Yankees. After the Alex Rodriguez contract debacle that is now plaguing the Yankees and the beginning of a terrible Albert Pujols deal for the Angels this amount of money doesn’t look to be happening for any team.
It will be interesting to see how Cano’s alliance with Roc Nation Sports plays in to his free agency decision as he is Jay Z’s first client.
