Braun becomes first victim of the Biogenesis clinic

The MLB has been investigating Biogenesis for quite awhile now and today the league has suspended their first player in connection with the clinic. Biogenesis is an anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables, Florida that has had a connection with performance enhancing drugs and MLB Baseball.

Today the MLB informed Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Ryan Braun that he will in fact be suspended the rest of the season without pay. Ryan Braun issued this statement following his suspension;

As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect. I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it is has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed – all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love.

Following Braun’s MVP season in 2011 he was the focal point in a PED investigation which he avoided suspension on a technicality. Since that initial investigation Braun has claimed his innocence until today.

With Braun accepting his suspension and Tony Bosch’s cooperation (head of Biogensis) expect more players to be suspended.
