In preparation for his upcoming album, Oxymoron, ScHoolboy Q stopped by the Hot 97 station, to speak with Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds about a variety of topics. After releasing the artwork and the explosive single, “Break the Bank”, Q has definitely stolen our attention and has everyone excited what he has in store.. When speaking with the Morning radio duo, he explained that the entire TDE camp are excited for the new project and may put in the same category as Good Kid…Maad City. He states that it might bring back that Doggystyle feel to hip hop. Q goes on to mention that the real Oxymoron is the fact that he has been doing all of these negative things, which he describes in his music, to pay for the good. It is a twisted idea of justice and protection that imbues itself in his life and his words.
He also goes back and drops some knowledge on gang life in Los Angeles; explaining how he came to be a part of a set and how beef can arsises, sometimes over things that are unforgivable. While he does reflect on that lifestyle, Q now looks back on those days with shame and embarrassment, in the same way as his time addicted to Lean. He is candid throughout the interview, and if you are a fan of the rapper, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
