Before Sony and Microsoft brawled for supremacy of our home entertainment systems, Sega and Nintendo were engaged in a great battle. Those of us who grew up during the 1990s experienced the heyday of the Sega vs. Nintendo console war. Sega’s fleet-footed blue hedgehog Sonic, was pit against Nintendo’s mushroom consuming plumber, Mario, for dominance of the video game world.
Blake J. Harris documented the real life war that went on behind the scenes when underdog Sega, a small arcade company, went toe-to-toe with video game behemoth Nintendo, in his book Console Wars. Now Sony Pictures and Scott Rudin (Moneyball, The Social Network) will produce a film adaptation to the book with childhood pals and video game enthusiasts, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, as the writers and directors. Harris will join the crew as an executive producer.
