Back in 1994, when Shaquille O’Neal was still a budding 22-year-old center playing for the Orlando Magic, he lent his likeness to a little fighting game project called “Shaq-Fu.” It’s come to be known as one of the worst video games of all time, become an ironically appreciated cult classic in the process, and even partly inspired its own destruction, but 20 years later, Shaq-Daddy wants to bring it back.
Shaq has teamed up with crowdsourcing site Indiegogo and game developer Big Deez Productions to give ‘Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn’ to the world with revamped gameplay and graphics. Even though Shaq and Big Deez are sinking a lot of their own money into this project, the campaign is still asking for $450,000 from the public.
Donating to the Shaq-Fu cause doesn’t come without its benefits, though. Perks range from a copy of the game (PC only for now) and all upcoming DLC to signed memorabilia like posters, authentic Shaq jerseys and Shaq Attack sneakers, the chance to have lunch and play ball with the man himself at his house, and even to have him follow you on Twitter or Instagram.
You can contribute to a project devoted to a digital Shaquille O’Neal beating up ninjas…again.
