We shall never forget J. Dilla
It’s been almost eight years since we lost one of the most talented producers in Hip-Hop. James ‘J Dilla’ Yancey passed away in 2006 after losing his battle to Lupus. The Hip-Hop community has yet to let his memory fade and now his legacy will continue to live on in his hometown of Detroit.
Next month, the city will be holding a world-wide celebration of J. Dilla’s life with the support of several key players in Hip-Hop from the past and present. De La Soul, Slum Village, Guilty Simpson and Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest will be in attendance while DJ Premier & Pete Rock will hold a showdown on the ones-and-twos.
There will be more acts to come soon! Look out for the J. Dilla Tribute Concert at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit Friday, February 7th. For more information on the concert, log on to their website.
